ABOUT
AYOMIDE BADEJOH

I would categorize myself as someone on a constant path of self-exploration. I never stray away from the ability to try new things and hopefully find new loves. This is something that has stuck with me even to today, evident by the broad scope of clubs I have joined. This constant searching has guided me on my path towards STEM.
Since I was a young child I have found myself deeply interested in the subjects of mathematics and science. In fact, some of my earliest memories are of me learning my multiplication tables. What I loved the most about these subjects is the way they opened the world, and how through them my ideas could become realities. These are ideals I carry with me today, one of my favorite study methods is looking to apply what I have learned in class with something in the real world.
These beliefs have been instrumental in the choosing of my career. Through computer science, you are able to make anything your heart desires in the digital world, without being constrained by the natural laws that govern our world, and if someone wants to leave that digital world it will not be hard to do because computer programming is everywhere nowadays.
SCHOOL
As far as I can remember education has been a huge part of my life. I believe this deep admiration for education came from my mother, a lifelong learner. After emigrating from Nigeria she took the opportunity to attend college, university and earn her masters. The pedestal to which she placed education has stuck with me and I attribute my various accolades to it. Right
now I attend Chaminade College School as an alumnus of their STEM program.

The STEM program was the driving factor in me choosing Chaminade and I can truthfully say it has not let me down on that front. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The program aims to prepare students planning on entering those fields with the skills they require to thrive in those disciplines. It has provided me not only the opportunity to be academically challenged with thought-provoking lectures, assignments, and presentations but has also provided me with an environment of like-minded peers. Like most of my classmates, I came into Chaminade as a big fish in a small pond, being here for 4 years has grounded me and introduced me to some very inspiring classmates and teachers. It also earns its reputation for challenging individuals who would likely not be were they to follow regular tracks. This is not to boast by any means, but the expression "pressure makes diamonds" fits especially well for this program. By making classes more fast-paced, students are forced to build time management abilities, better study habits, and teamwork skills. I currently have a 96% average and have maintained honor roll for all 4 years.

I hope to continue my studies at university where I plan to study computer science or software engineering. I have applied to the University of Waterloo, the University of Toronto, Queens University and McMaster University. Most of the schools I have chosen are very well recognized in the field which I hope will aid me in my ultimate goal of working as a programmer. I also gravitated to these schools based on their respective coop programs. Only time will tell where I end up going but I think I would be happy with any of these programs.
